LA Green Drinks at El Cid Thurs 2/19!

This month we are back at El Cid in Silverlake, the historic Flamenco Dinner Theater which received a "green over" by the Alter Eco team. Alter Eco El Cid Episode

Join us on the outdoor patio for tapas, drinks and inspiring conversations. There will be lots of heaters, but you may want to dress warm. After getting your green on, you can check out "The Super Sexy Show" - a risque-retro burlesque show.

Environmental Nonprofit Organization Seeks Associate Director

You…

*are passionate about environmental issues
*are looking for a career change
*want to be part of an emerging grassroots environmental nonprofit organization in Los Angeles
*enjoy public speaking and would like to be an enthusiastic spokesperson for the environment
*have at least two years experience in project management, fundraising, and administration, particularly in the environmental nonprofit field
*are an energetic, organized, self-starter with excellent writing skills
*would like to be able to work out of your home
*live in the South Bay or a nearby city
*hold a bachelor’s degree
*are willing and able to work without a salary until together we can raise the needed funds

TeachingGreen…

* is a respected environmental organization in the South Bay working to protect the environment by empowering people to make sustainable choices
* has educated hundreds of consumers through its Green Life seminars for adults
* needs help with
o fundraising
o curriculum development (for kids’ Growing Up Green program)
o program development (for existing programs and those still in the concept phase)
o outreach
o teaching seminars and giving presentations

TeachingGreen is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to enable a sustainable future for life on Earth through comprehensive and empowering environmental education for all. We serve the greater Los Angeles area, with efforts focused primarily on the South Bay cities. Through our Green Life program for teens and adults, we offer a series of six workshops on sustainable living at various venues throughout the South Bay. We also give private presentations for groups, businesses, educational institutions, etc. Our other programs, including the Growing Up Green program for kids, are currently in varying stages of development.

Since its official launch in November 2007, TeachingGreen’s services are increasingly in demand. Its founder wants to build the organization to better meet the needs of the community, and she needs help to do that.

This is an opportunity to not only work in the environmental nonprofit field here in Los Angeles, but to play a key role in shaping and growing a grassroots organization that serves an important function in the community.

Calling all interns: your daily thread, L.A.'s neighborhood guide to conscious living is looking for a "green" minded intern to help us starting in January. Flexible schedules and hours will be available (content creating opportunities as well). Ideal candidate will be a motivated self starter, have strong writing, media and people skills, plus be passionate about green, sustainable living in Los Angeles. We are happy to provide school credit if that is a possibility. Knowledge of Photoshop, graphic design, and/or web design is a PLUS, but not necessary!
